Kinds of Files that Photoshop can Create

One of the most flexible image and photo editing software programs on the market today is the widely popular Adobe Photoshop. For example, Adobe Photoshop supports a variety of different image formats. There are dozens of different image file formats, and they differ in terms of compression techniques, the way in which they represent image data, and what Photoshop features they support.

One of the oldest, most common, and most widely-supported file formats for images is the BMP, or bitmap file format. BMP files support the bitmap, RGB, grayscale, and indexed color modes. BMP files tend to be larger than other formats, especially in higher color depths, owing to their lack of compression. This makes them relatively unsuitable for display on web pages, but since no image data is lost to compression, BMP files can be a good format for print media.

The other quintessential online image format is the Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF. This format is used mainly for non-photographic images. However, GIF files are limited to an 8 bit color space, meaning a palette of 256 colors out of the RGB color space. While making the format generally disfavored for photographs, when it comes to simple images like buttons, the GIF format's small file size makes it one of the most commonly used on the Internet.

Finally, one of the most popular image file formats among graphic artists and publishers is the Tagged Image File Format, or TIFF. TIFF is a bitmap format, and is supported by virtually all image editing software programs across most platforms, as well as by many scanners, faxes, and optical character recognition programs. TIFF files are extremely flexible, and in Photoshop, support virtually every color mode, transparency, layers, and other features, as well as bit depths of 8, 16, or 32 bits per channel. If you're working on a page layout or just need a flexible, capable format which is sure to work between multiple artists on different platforms with different image editing software, TIFF can be extremely useful to you.

Photoshop supports all of these formats and many more. Each format has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some are better for working with photos, and some are better for simpler images and diagrams. Whatever the project you're working on, there's probably a format out there just right for it, and chances are, it'll work in Photoshop.

There are many programs out there for digital artists to use but none are as multipurpose as Adobe Photoshop. Originally just a picture editing program it has evolved to be one of the most useful and indispensable tools in the industry. What is Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a very cool program, enabling you to do lots of awesome stuff. More specifically, it is a layered graphic editing program. Which means that if you learn how to exploit all its functions, you can create, edit and manipulate any image you want.

It might sound confusing at first, but once you spend some time with it, you'll grasp everything in no time. First of all, layers. Every new piece of data that you add to an image is called a layer. You still see the whole image as one, but with every new piece of data added a new layer is also added. However, this doesn't mean that you have the entire image selected and active. If you're trying to apply something to the whole image, but you see only one portion affected, then you're in the wrong layer.

As mentioned above, a new layer is added with each action you take. For example, if you use the text tool, by adding text to your image you will create a new layer. However, if you return to that text, edit it, change colors or whatever, you won't create a new layer, you will still be working in the same layer. But don't worry, you don't have to memorize all layers in order to change something. Just press F7 to bring up all layers in the lower side of the screen.

Photoshop is an incredibly useful tool, a real powerful ally to every photographer, whether amateur or professional. It has tons of cool tools and features, and you can do just about anything you can think of to your images. If you learn how to use it, that is.

Syncing Color

• Open file "images.jpg" and "guilin cave-2.jpg".
• Match the width of two files: go to image> image size> change the height.

• Open file> new.
• Move both files to a new screen by clicking the move tool (at the tool box)> drag the file (use crop tool if necessary). 

• Then at layer 1 (left picture), go to Image> Adjustment> Match Color. 
• At Target, will being written that layer 1 as a target image that having color adjustment. 
• At Source, select layer 2 (right picture). 

• Click OK. 

• Move layer 2,so that the little part of layer 2 is above layer 1.
• At the tool box, click eraser tool. Brush Set: 15, Flow: 20, Opacity: Adjust. 
• Erase line between layer 1 layer 2. 

• Here's the result. Compare with the initial image. 

 
Easy, huh? You can use this technique in various occasions. For instance, if you want to make banners and so on.

Toolbox

First of all, I will explain about Toolbox.Toolbox consists of a set of facilities to edit and manipulate image.

 Toolbox is divided into 4 parts :

• Selection Tool 

• Marquee : used for selecting objects such as rectangles, squares, and ellipses.
• Move : used to move selections, objects, and layers.
• Lasso : used to make irregular selections.
• Magic Wand : selects an area of similar colors in a single click.
• Crop : allows users to redefine their active image area but not resize the entire image.
• Slice : used to make a selection to split image into several pieces.

• Painting and Editing

• Healing : used to repair imperfections in images, or handle blemishes and red-eye.
• Paintbrush : simulates brush strokes while coloring object.
• Clone Stamp : a user may select a source starting point somewhere on an image, and then paint elsewhere using that starting point as a reference, effectively cloning the source.
• History Brush : returns the object at a position such as a particular history or snapshot.
• Eraser : used to erase parts of an image, selection, or layer.
• Paint Bucket : fills in areas that have similarity color with the area where you press the mouse.
• Blur : darkens parts of an image.
• Dodge : lightens parts of an image.

• Special Tool

• Path Component : moves the location of points that have been created on the path.
• Text : used to write text.
• Pen : creates path that can be used as a selection or drawing tools.
• Rectangle : used to make rectangle.
• Notes : used to make a notes at object and can be added by audio.
• Eyedropper : changes foreground color with sample color that you want.

• Navigation

• Hand : moves the work field to the place that you want.
• Zoom : zoom in and zoom out the object's display.

To select a tool from the toolbox, simply click it once. If the tool displayed has a black arrow in the bottom right corner, that means that there are more tools of that type hidden underneath it. To select one of these hidden tools, hold down the mouse button while over it, and then release once you’re over the tool you’d like to select.
